When you submit your resume, the tool first extracts plain text from your file. PDF files are parsed using PDF extraction libraries, DOCX files use the python-docx parser, and plain text is read directly. The extracted text is then sent to a large language model via the Groq API, where a carefully engineered prompt instructs the AI to evaluate the resume against common Applicant Tracking System criteria. The model analyzes keyword density and relevance, section structure and formatting conventions, quantified achievements with metrics, action verb usage, and overall readability. The response includes an overall ATS compatibility score from 0 to 100, along with a category-by-category breakdown covering content quality, formatting, keyword optimization, and impact statements.

The AI analysis goes beyond simple keyword matching. It evaluates whether your resume uses the standard section headings that ATS software expects — Experience, Education, Skills, and similar conventional labels. It checks for the X-Y-Z formula popularized by Google, where each bullet point follows the pattern of accomplished a specific result as measured by a quantifiable metric by doing something specific. The model also identifies missing sections, vague language that lacks measurable outcomes, and formatting patterns that confuse ATS parsers such as tables, columns, headers and footers, and non-standard fonts. No files or text are stored on our servers after processing completes. The AI provider does not retain resume content for model training or any other purpose beyond returning the immediate analysis. Uploaded files are deleted from server memory immediately after text extraction. We recommend removing highly sensitive personal information such as home addresses, social security numbers, or financial details before submitting a resume to any online service. While the analysis is processed over encrypted connections, you should exercise the same caution you would when sharing a resume through any online platform.
